Resume of Artist Marci J. Erspamer

HISTORY AND STYLE:
At the age of 15, Marci began experimenting with art, and by 24 had dedicated herself to painting. Currently, she works out of a studio in her home located in Salt Lake City, Utah. She uses acrylic, to paint familiar objects that look divergent or mysterious. Marci is one of those rare artists with a natural talent-she is self-taught, and is becoming successful in spite of no formal training. However, a plethora of artists and styles have inspired her, such as: Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Cezzanne, Salvadore Dali, Georgia O’keefe, Aboriginal, Western and Tribal art.

STATEMENT:
Marci begins each image as a rough outline and then follows the direction in which it takes her. The final piece is unknown. She enjoys being absorbed in the moment -- painting nourishes her desire to be absolutely hands on in this process. Marci’s intent is to make people look at things in a different way and stir up feelings in the back of the viewer’s mind. Her body of work shows us a unique perspective in reduced geometrical forms. This kind of art provides a raw and colorful language we all understand in our own way. And so like dreams, art can be hard to articulate. Yet it always gives us the opportunity to engage in a different way.
